A new specialist position has been created to help combat the fear of crime and to reach under represented members of the community.

Richmond Council is to appoint a dedicated hate crime officer to combat racial and homophobic offences.

Councillor David Williams, cabinet member for communities, said: "We have never had specialist officers for these roles but this will be an extension on what we have done before.

"Hate crime is an increasing area of concern in the borough and is an an area that we wanted to get on top of."

The council currently works with the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender group as well as members from the disability forum who say there is a problem of fear of violence and crime.

This move is designed to reach groups not easily accessed by conventional means and to show that Richmond is a community for all people.

Coun Williams said: "Race and homophobic crime are always seriously under reported and it is important we get someone working with the community rather than just reacting to crime."

A council spokesman added: "We are the safest borough in London but we have a relatively high fear of crime and we need to better engage with people."

Ofcourse it is white, middle class men and women who are going about with huns and knifes. They wear hoodies and their pants hang down exposing their backsides. They play loud music on public transport but nobody dares complain. They mug innocent pedestrians, only ethnic minorities, and they parade their evilly trained fighting dogs as they swagger through the streets. A special force is urgently needed to stop these no-good citizens.

What is hate crime? My partners car was paint stripped in Feb 06, one night both our cars were paint stripped parked in two different Boroughs in May 06. In Aug 06 someone jumped on the bonnet of our car claiming he had been run over. In Nov 06 the wing mirror was kicked off my partner’s car and in Jan 07 three tyres were slashed. Is this not a hate crime or is that only reserved for the few that the politicians seem to put before us English heterosexual people? Yet another gesture by idiot councillors providing a well paid job for someone who wouldn’t help me or my partner!

Get some face paint for you and your partner. Very dark paint. Then you will get help.
