Two south-west London roads have been named among the bumpiest in the country.

Waldegrave Road, Twickenham, was named the fourth bumpiest and Grove Park Terrace, Hounslow, the fifth in a poll by Continental Tyres.

The uneven roads were beaten by Station Road in Leeds which topped the survey.

That road was described as having "a giant crater around a sunken grate".

The second most-bumpy road was Castle Street near Paisley and the third was Mill Avenue in Hillingdon.

Roger Sanders, technical expert at Continental Tyres, said: "Road conditions have a huge effect on the performance and safety of tyres. Impact with pothole edges or sunken grates can cause severe tyre damage which could lead to dangerous blow-outs on the road.

"It is vital that motorists slow down when driving in areas where the road surface is obviously deteriorating to give them time to avoid potholes or lessen the effects of an impact."

Langley Avenue in North Cheam/Worcester Park. That road is a joke, there are the three small bumps across the two lanes but inbetween you feel like you're in a bumper car!

And what about the pavements? I have a disabled neighbour who finds it nearly impossible to negotiate her way to shops in Teddington due to horrendous pavements along Stanley Road. Cracks, bumps and edges to manhole covers are commonplace and even able-bodied people have to watch their step at all times.

The roads and pavements on the Woodlawn estate in Whitton are dreadfull; Waverley, Lyndhurst, Ellerman Avenue etc.

No wonder Heathfield is the most deprived area of the borough - any one with any money moves to escape the councils neglect.
